Processing external hard disks 

You can upload files with FTP or with the website's built-in uploader. But we can also process external hard disks for you. You can send us hard disks directly, or you can have your agents/photographers send us their disks.

Before sending hard disks

  • Infradox clients (not necessarily the sender) must send an e-mail to traffic@xpertise-ict.com.
    The e-mail must tell us;
    - the name of the sender,
    - the name of the target website,
    - approval of processing.

Package must contain an instruction letter with the following information:

  • For which website (we receive many hard disks from many sources so this is important)
  • Instructions (if any)
  • Return address (in case you don't want the hard disk to be returned by us then specify this) 
  • E-mail address and name of contact

Furthermore

  • Hard disk must be FAT32 or NTFS formatted 
  • Hard disk must have USB 2 or USB 3 interface
  • Package must include required power adapter/cables and USB cable etc
  • Hard disk must have label with owner name, owner address, target website
  • Metadata must be embedded in the files (IPTC)
  • Files must be high resolution JPEG
  • Files must have valid Windows file names with the .jpg file extension

If a hard disk does not meet the above requirements, you will receive a quotation of the costs.

If a third party (one of your agents or photographers) is going to send us a hard disk, then please inform them about the above instructions first. 

Costs of processing external hard disks

Processing external hard disks requires us to go to the data center to connect the disk and to remove the disk when done. We go to the data center once a week.

  • Standard processing of a single external hard disk that requires no additional programming/scripting/processing configuration etc
    - 75 Euro 
  • Processing of a single hard disk that requires extra work (this includes hard disks that are not supplied as described above)
    - price on request

Returning hard disks to you or your agents/photographers

  • Above costs do not include costs of returning disks. See Packing / Postage below

 

Getting files on external hard disks (backups/exports)

You can send us an external USB hard drive if you want a copy of your files, e.g. so that you have an off site backup or because you need an export for an agent etc. 

Before sending hard disks

  • Infradox clients must send an e-mail to traffic@xpertise-ict.com.
    The e-mail must tell us;
    - company and contact name 
    - the name of the source website 

Package must contain an instruction letter with the following information:

  • Which website (we receive many hard disks from many sources so this is important)
  • Instructions (e.g. all files since a specific date, only files from specific supplier...)
  • Return address
  • E-mail address and name of contact

Furthermore

  • Hard disk must be FAT32 or NTFS formatted 
  • Hard disk must have USB 2 or USB 3 interface
  • Package must include required power adapter/cables and USB cable etc
  • Hard disk must have label with owner name, owner address, target website

If a hard disk does not meet the above requirements, you will receive a quotation of the costs.

Costs of processing backups/exports to external hard disks

Processing external hard disks requires us to go to the data center to connect the disk and to remove the disk when done. We go to the data center once a week. 

  • Standard processing of a single external hard disk that requires no complex programming/scripting/processing configuration etc
    - 75 Euro 
  • Processing of a single hard disk that requires complex work, e.g. development of scripts to extract files with specific criteria only, or preparing hard disks that are not supplied as described above: 
    - price on request

Returning hard disks to you or your agents/photographers

  • Above costs do not include costs of returning disks. See Packing / Postage below

Large file storage of ancillary files

We offer storage space for files that are not part of your Infradox website. For instance zip files, RAW files and so on.

  • Upload / Download of files with an FTP client
  • Includes set up, single FTP account, bandwidth and support 
  • Each file stored on two separate RAID6 storage servers (double redundancy)
  • Files are not taken out of the datacenter (no 3rd copy available at an additional location)
  • Costs are invoiced per annum, access is enabled after receiving your payment
  • Storage expansion possible at any time
  • 295 Euro per annum for 1 TB 
  • 265 Euro per annum per 1 TB for 5 TB or more
  • Prices for more than 5 TB on request

We can also copy files from external hard disks to your storage folder, and/or copy files from your folders to external hard disks. For information and costs see:

Packing / Postage - Returning hard disks to you or your agents/photographers

We charge below costs for return P&P of hard disks to you or your agents/photographers with "sign for receipt" post.

  • Recipient in The Netherlands up 10 KG - 25 Euro
  • Recipient in the USA up to 2 KG - 40 Euro
  • Recipient in the USA up to 5 KG - 50 Euro
  • Recipient in Europe (outside The Netherlands) up to 2 KG - 30 Euro
  • Recipient in Europe (outside The Netherlands) up to 5 KG - 40 Euro
  • Other: price on request

Alternatively you can arrange for a courier to collect hard disks at our offices in Amsterdam. You must use your own courier account.

  • We do not charge for this service
  • Contact us before arranging a courier so that we can prepare your package
  • Contact us to let us know the date and time of pickup

You will receive an e-mail to confirm that the package has been sent.
